Error when "Combine in Adobe Acrobat" - v7.0.8

Hi - I've been using Acrobat 5.x/ 6.x for years to convert JPG's to a PDF. I have been doing this by right-clicking on the JPG file(s) and selecting "Combine in Adobe Acrobat". This has been working great.

When I upgraded to Acrobat Pro 7.0.8, this process ALWAYS generates the following error (I don't think it has ever worked since upgrading).
"The input file is corrupt or of an unknown/unsupported type"

This error occurs after Acrobat has begun the process - the "Assembling Document" Acrobat dialog is already displayed - that dialog also states "Opening Image File as Adobe PDF: 100%", but the progress bar remains empty (ie 0%). So, the error is definitely rooted in Acrobat

When I close the error dialog, I receive the following informational dialog window:
"No PDF file was created because pic001.jpg could not be converted to PDF. Please remove it from the list and try again".

I tried creating the PDF directly from within Acrobat by "Creating PDF from File" and the same error occurs.

I've also tried a number of different JPG's, created by different sources (ie camera, "Save As" from Acrobat, etc.) and the error persists.

When I open the JPG using an editor (ie paintbrush, etc.) and save it as a different file format, I **am** able to create the PDF. But, those added steps are really a pain for what I'm doing, so I'd like to solve the Acrobat problem instead of just avoiding it....

Can anyone offer any insight into solving this?

Thanks!

I s'pose I should have done that in the first place.... Here's a link <Loading Image...>. Interestingly, this one creates an "unrecoverable error" when I try to combine it into a PDF....

Thanks.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news: I can convert the jpg to PDF

The bad news: I used Acrobat 8.

Whatever it is that Acrobat 7 doesn't like about the file has been fixed in Acrobat 8.

Yup, v8 fixed the problem... Too bad it costs over $100 to fix Adobe's software....
