I want to be able to print two 8.5 x 11 documents onto an 11x17 piece of paper side by side. It would seem that I would somehow need to combine the two first.

Try inserting on in the other and then print to a 8.5X11 sheet with a multi-up selection. You will likely have to play a bit to get it to work.

Thanks, but I'm not sure I was clear. I have two separate 8.5 x 11 sheets and I want to print them to one 11x17. I'm making a newsletter that will then be folded.

For this to work cleanly, John, you really should create this in the native format first and then PDF it. In your native creation software, you can set up the file as a "two-halved 11 x 17" document very easily.

Thanks Jan. I would and know how to do this, but this publication is being sent to me already in PDF form. I use publisher, but there doesn't seem to be away to import it into publisher.

That's correct; Microsoft Publisher will not open Adobe Acrobat PDF files. Bill's option to try fiddling with the n-up function could be one way to go.

However, I had a really bizarre thought just now ... pretty left of center actually .... but I just tried it and it worked. Are you running Acrobat 6 or 7 by any chance? My bizarre thought is to use Acrobat's watermark feature to accomplish what you want.

First, make a blank 11 x 17 document in Word or Publisher or whatever and print it to PDF. this becomes your base document into which you are going to watermark the other two PDF files.

Second, with your new blank 11 x 17 PDF open in Acrobat, select DOCUMENT > ADD WATERMARK & BACKGROUND. In the resulting dialog box:

for type TYPE section, select Add a Watermark

for the SOURCE section, select From File and then navigate through BROWSE
for the first of your original two PDFs.

in the POSITION & APPEARANCE section, select a HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT of Left

When you click OK, you should see the first of your 8.5 x 11 PDFs conveniently parked on the left side of your 11 x 17 PDF. Now do the the same steps again, this time using the second of your original PDF files and changing the horizontal alignment to Right this ttime. You'll end up with an 11 x 17 PDF document that shows your previous two 8.5 x 11 PDFs side-by-side.

I just tried my suggestion on AA5, but the details on the page seemed to shring a bit (I did not have shrink to fit turned on). They did rotate and filled out 8.5X11 portions of the sheet. As I mentioned, you will have to play with it to see if it does what you want. The form of watermark that Jan mentioned does not work in AA5. Bill

Print a blank 11x17 document to Acrobat. Open one of the letter size PDFs,
do a select all and then copy and paste into the 11x17 document. Repeat the
copy and paste for the other page.
