Discussion:
How can I create a PDF slideshow with Acrobat X that works under Reader 8?

I've got Acrobat X Pro and would like to create a PDF file that
contains a simple slideshow (in addition to text that doesn't change),
but I want that slideshow to be easily readable by people who have
Reader 8. Acrobat X lets me embed videos of various formats, but the
resulting PDF files aren't easily playable unless the recipient of my
PDF file has Reader X as well. I also don't want to assume that the
recipients of my PDF file already have Flash installed (or other
software beyond Adobe Reader).

Is there some way to do this?

Thanks,
Chris

When you generate the PDF, downgrade the PDF version to PDF v1.7.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I think you're saying that
Reader 8 can handle PDF v1.7? The problem is that if I embed a video,
Reader 8 can't show the video natively, it needs the third-party
software to be installed (e.g. Flash player for Flash video, QuickTime
or something for MP4 video). I really want a PDF that can be loaded
into Reader 8 and show a slideshow without any additional software
required.

Thanks,
Chris

I just created a PDF SlideShow using Adobe PhotoShop Elements v2.x

It was based upon Adobe PDF v1.3 and it displayed as a SlideShow within FoxIt Reader.
