It is not based upon MS Office version (Word 2002 is basically MS Office XP)
it is based upon the OS used.

My guess would be Acrobat 8x and Acrobat 9.x (both fully patched).

I see: I have to specify my installation:
It is MS Word 2002 in Office XP Standard SP3, OS: Win XP SP3.
Adobe acobat 4 doesent work anywhere.
For acrobat 5 there is an update availlable to 5.05.Adobe says this is more
compatible to Word 2002. But I am not sure.
Acrobat 6 was build in 2003, so this version seems accaptable.
(8xx and 9xxx are too expencive.)
