unable to install Acrobat 8 professional post upgrade to Windows 8, serial number not available

I was running windows XP pro and updated to Windows 8.
Now I can't install Acrobat 8 professional, because it can't find the serial number.
I did not have it written down so I can't find it either. Have searched files but not luck.
Same issue with Photoshop 7.
Where are the serial number kept?

Recently Adobe published a web page for CS2 with downloads and Serial
Numbers. That included Acrobat Professional v8

They seemed to have pulled PhotoShop Elements 5 and Acrobat Professional v8
but, a cached version of the web page can still be pulled up and on it you
can still get the installer EXE and the Serial Number.

BTW: Don't expect Acrobat v8.x to work properly on Win8.

Too late now. That cached content has been overwritten.
